A simple, refreshing non-alcoholic mint julep mocktail made with fresh mint, sugar, lemon juice, and sparkling water. Perfect for summer sipping and easy to prepare with pantry staples.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1012 fresh mint leaves (spearmint recommended)
  • 12 tablespoons granulated sugar or simple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1 cup (240 ml) cold sparkling water or club soda
  • Crushed ice
  • Optional garnish: sprig of mint and lemon wheel

Instructions

  1. Place 10-12 fresh mint leaves into a mixing glass.
  2. Gently muddle the mint leaves with a muddler or the back of a spoon for about 20 seconds to release oils without tearing the leaves.
  3. Add 1 to 2 tablespoons of granulated sugar or simple syrup to the muddled mint.
  4. Pour in 1 tablespoon (15 ml) of fresh lemon juice and stir gently to combine.
  5. Fill the glass about halfway with crushed ice (around 1 cup or 240 ml).
  6. Pour cold sparkling water gently over the ice until the glass is full (about 1 cup or 240 ml).
  7. Stir gently once to mix without losing fizz.
  8. Garnish with a sprig of fresh mint and a lemon wheel on the rim. Slap the mint sprig between your hands before garnishing to release fragrance.
  9. Serve immediately for best refreshment.
