A simple, stunning, and delicious recipe for layered red, white, and blue vodka jello shots perfect for summer parties and celebrations.

Ingredients

Scale
  • Red Layer: 1 package (3 oz / 85 g) strawberry or cherry-flavored gelatin powder
  • 1 cup (240 ml) boiling water
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) cold vodka (use a clean-tasting brand like Tito’s or Smirnoff)
  • White Layer: 1 package (3 oz / 85 g) unflavored gelatin powder
  • 1 cup (240 ml) boiling water
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) cold vodka
  • Blue Layer: 1 package (3 oz / 85 g) blueberry or blue raspberry-flavored gelatin powder
  • 1 cup (240 ml) boiling water
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) cold vodka

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Red Layer: In a heatproof bowl, dissolve 1 package (3 oz / 85 g) of red-flavored gelatin in 1 cup (240 ml) boiling water. Stir until fully dissolved (about 2 minutes). Let it cool slightly (about 5 minutes), then stir in 1/2 cup (120 ml) cold vodka. Pour about 1 oz (30 ml) into each shot cup. Place the tray in the refrigerator to set for 30-45 minutes until firm but not hard.
  2. Make the White Layer: While the red layer sets, dissolve 1 package (3 oz / 85 g) unflavored gelatin in 1 cup (240 ml) boiling water. Stir well to ensure no lumps. Add 1/2 cup (120 ml) sweetened condensed milk and 1/2 cup (120 ml) cold vodka. Mix gently until fully combined. Once the red layer is firm, carefully pour the white layer over it, about 1 oz (30 ml) per cup. Return to the refrigerator and chill for 45 minutes until set.
  3. Create the Blue Layer: Dissolve 1 package (3 oz / 85 g) blue-flavored gelatin in 1 cup (240 ml) boiling water. Stir until dissolved. Let cool slightly, then add 1/2 cup (120 ml) cold vodka. Pour carefully over the white layer (1 oz / 30 ml per cup). Refrigerate for at least 2 hours or until fully set.
  4. Serve: Once all layers are firm, the shots are ready to serve. Keep refrigerated until just before your party.

Notes

Pour each layer slowly over the back of a spoon held just above the previous layer to avoid mixing. Chill cups before pouring layers for sharper edges. Patience is key to prevent colors from bleeding. Can substitute vodka with lemon-lime soda or sparkling water for alcohol-free version. Sweetened condensed milk in the white layer adds creaminess; canned coconut milk can be used for dairy-free option.
