A quick and refreshing summer drink combining watermelon, protein powder, lime, salt, and water for hydration and muscle recovery.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups cubed seedless watermelon (about 600 g)
  • 1 scoop (25 grams) vanilla protein powder
  • Juice of 1 lime (about 2 tablespoons or 30 ml)
  • Pinch of sea salt (approximately 1/8 teaspoon)
  • 1 ½ cups (360 ml) cold water

Instructions

  1. Cut about 4 cups (600 g) of seedless watermelon into cubes, removing rind if desired.
  2. Roll the lime on the counter, cut in half, and extract juice (about 2 tablespoons or 30 ml).
  3. In a blender, combine watermelon cubes, 1 scoop (25 g) vanilla protein powder, lime juice, a pinch of sea salt (approx. 1/8 tsp), and 1 ½ cups (360 ml) cold water.
  4. Blend on high for about 45 seconds to 1 minute until smooth with no large chunks.
  5. If too thick, add up to ½ cup (120 ml) more water and blend briefly. Taste and adjust salt or lime as desired.
  6. Optional: Pour through a fine mesh strainer into a pitcher to remove pulp.
  7. Refrigerate for 20-30 minutes or serve immediately over ice. Garnish with lime wedge or watermelon slice if desired.

Notes

Use ripe watermelon for best sweetness. Adjust water amount based on protein powder thickness. Freeze watermelon cubes to use as ice cubes for dilution-free chilling. For dairy-free, swap protein powder with plant-based options. Adding fresh mint or basil during blending adds a refreshing herbal twist.
