A quick, stress-free school lunch solution featuring soft tortillas spread with cream cheese, layered with deli ham and sharp cheddar, then rolled and sliced into kid-friendly pinwheels.

Ingredients

  • Large flour tortillas (10-inch)
  • Cream cheese (softened)
  • Deli ham (thick-cut)
  • Shredded cheddar cheese
  • Salt and pepper (optional)
  • Optional: Mustard, cucumber slices, or other vegetables

Instructions

  1. Lay a large flour tortilla flat on a cutting board.
  2. Spread softened cream cheese evenly over the entire surface of the tortilla, reaching the edges.
  3. Layer slices of deli ham over the cream cheese, overlapping slightly to cover the surface completely.
  4. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the ham.
  5. Starting from the long edge closest to you, roll the tortilla tightly but gently, tucking in the filling as you go.
  6. Press the seam gently to seal the roll.
  7. Using kitchen shears or a sharp knife, cut the roll into one-inch thick pinwheels.
  8. Place pinwheels cut-side up in an airtight container or bento box.
  9. Serve cold or at room temperature.

Notes

Ensure cream cheese is softened to prevent tearing the tortilla. Roll tightly to prevent unraveling. For best texture, assemble the night before and pack in the morning. Use an ice pack to keep the lunch cold for food safety. Gluten-free tortillas can be used but may be more fragile.
