A quick, budget-friendly recipe for crispy, juicy chicken thighs coated in a sweet and savory honey garlic glaze. Perfect for busy weeknights and simple dinners.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs
  • 1/4 cup (85g) honey
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3 tablespoons (45ml) soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon (15ml) apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon (15ml) olive oil or vegetable oil
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • Salt, to taste
  • Optional: 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • Optional: chopped green onions for garnish
  • Optional: sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

  1. Pat chicken thighs dry with paper towels. Season both sides lightly with salt and freshly ground black pepper.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together honey, minced garlic, soy sauce, and apple cider vinegar. Set aside.
  3. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Place chicken thighs skin-side down and cook without moving for 7-8 minutes until skin is golden and crispy. Flip and cook for another 3 minutes.
  4. Pour the honey garlic sauce evenly over the chicken. Lower heat to medium-low. Spoon sauce over the thighs as it simmers and thickens. Cook for 5-7 minutes until chicken is cooked through (internal temperature 165ยฐF) and sauce is sticky.
  5. Remove chicken from heat and let rest for a couple of minutes in the pan. Garnish with chopped green onions or sesame seeds if desired.

Notes

Pat chicken skin dry before cooking for crispy edges. Avoid overcrowding the pan to prevent soggy skin. Use medium-high heat to sear and reduce heat when adding sauce to prevent burning. Let chicken rest before serving to keep it juicy. Honey burns easily, so watch the heat carefully.
