This homemade pumpkin spice latte uses real pumpkin puree for a velvety texture and earthy sweetness. It’s quick, easy, and better than any coffee shop version.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (240 ml) strong brewed coffee or espresso
  • 3/4 cup (180 ml) whole milk
  • 2 tablespoons pumpkin puree (100% pure, not pie filling)
  • 12 tablespoons maple syrup (to taste)
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon (plus more for garnish)
  • Whipped cream (optional, for topping)

Instructions

  1. Brew 1 cup (240 ml) of strong coffee or pull a double shot of espresso. Set aside.
  2. In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine 3/4 cup (180 ml) whole milk, 2 tablespoons pumpkin puree, 1-2 tablespoons maple syrup, 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract, 1/2 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice, and 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon. Whisk until the pumpkin is fully incorporated.
  3. Continue whisking gently until the mixture is steaming hot but not boiling (about 3-4 minutes). Remove from heat immediately when bubbles form around the edges.
  4. If desired, froth the warm milk mixture with a milk frother for 15-20 seconds until light and foamy. Alternatively, whisk vigorously by hand.
  5. Pour the warm pumpkin milk mixture into a mug, then slowly add the brewed coffee or espresso. Stir gently to combine.
  6. Top with whipped cream if desired, and dust with a pinch of cinnamon or pumpkin pie spice. Optionally, drizzle with a little maple syrup.
  7. Taste and adjust sweetness or spice to your preference.

Notes

For best results, use 100% pure pumpkin puree, not pumpkin pie filling. Whisk the pumpkin into cold milk before heating to prevent clumps. Do not boil the milk. For a dairy-free version, use oat milk. The pumpkin milk mixture can be made ahead and stored in the fridge for up to 3 days.
