A quick and easy homemade version of the classic turkey and cracker lunchable, made with better ingredients and customizable to your taste. Perfect for busy mornings, school lunches, or road trips.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 46 slices oven-roasted turkey breast (freshly sliced from deli counter)
  • 4 oz sharp cheddar cheese (block, not pre-sliced)
  • 810 butter crackers (sturdy, square-shaped)
  • 1 small apple, handful of grapes, or berries (optional)
  • Few dark chocolate chips, mini cookie, or square of chocolate (optional)

Instructions

  1. Lay the turkey slices flat on a cutting board. If large, cut into halves or thirds so pieces are roughly the size of a cracker. Set aside.
  2. Unwrap the block of cheddar and slice into slabs about ¼-inch thick. Use a small cookie cutter to press out fun shapes (star, heart, animal). If no cutter, cut into small squares or rectangles.
  3. Count out about 8-10 crackers per box. Place them gently in one compartment of a bento box or lunch container.
  4. Arrange the turkey pieces and cheese shapes in separate compartments. If adding fruit, place in another section. Keep any treat separate to avoid sogginess.
  5. Optional: Write a little note on a sticky note and stick it to the lid for a personal touch.

Notes

For best results, pat turkey slices dry with a paper towel to prevent soggy crackers. Store crackers separately if packing the night before. Use a block of cheese rather than pre-shredded for better texture and shape-holding. Let kids help assemble their own box to encourage eating.
