A quick and simple honey mustard glazed salmon recipe perfect for busy weeknights, delivering a sweet and tangy flavor with a beautifully caramelized crust.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 salmon fillets (6 oz / 170 g each), skin-on or skinless
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (for brushing the grill or pan)
  • 3 tablespoons honey (raw or local preferred)
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard (whole grain Dijon works beautifully)
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar (or lemon juice as substitute)
  • 1 garlic clove, minced (optional)
  • Β½ teaspoon smoked paprika (optional)
  • Pinch of salt and pepper to balance flavors

Instructions

  1. Prepare the glaze: In a small mixing bowl, whisk together 3 tablespoons honey, 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard, 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar, minced garlic, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Set aside. (5 minutes)
  2. Season the salmon: Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels. Lightly brush each fillet with olive oil, then season both sides with salt and pepper. (3 minutes)
  3. Preheat the grill pan: Heat your grill pan or skillet over medium-high heat until hot enough to sizzle but not burn the glaze. (3 minutes)
  4. Cook the salmon, skin side down first: Place the salmon fillets skin-side down on the hot pan. Cook for about 4-5 minutes without moving them to get a crisp skin. (4-5 minutes)
  5. Flip and glaze: Carefully flip the salmon using tongs or a spatula. Immediately brush the top side with the honey mustard glaze. Cook for another 3-4 minutes, brushing the glaze once more halfway through cooking. (3-4 minutes)
  6. Check for doneness: The salmon should be opaque and flake easily with a fork. If thicker fillets need more time, reduce heat slightly and cover loosely for a minute or two. (2 minutes)
  7. Rest and serve: Remove the salmon from the pan and let it rest for a couple of minutes. Spoon any extra glaze from the pan over the fillets before serving. (2 minutes)

Notes

Use room temperature salmon for even cooking. Apply glaze after flipping to prevent burning. Keep heat medium to medium-high. Let salmon rest after cooking for juicy texture. If no grill pan, a non-stick skillet or oven baking at 400Β°F for 12-15 minutes works well. Glaze can be prepared ahead and refrigerated.
