A quick and easy party snack featuring hot dogs wrapped in smoky bacon and flaky puff pastry, topped with a spicy-sweet firecracker sauce for a crunchy, savory treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 regular beef or pork hot dogs
  • 8 slices thick-cut bacon
  • 2 sheets store-bought frozen puff pastry, thawed
  • Β½ cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons Sriracha
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 teaspoon lime juice
  • 1 large egg, beaten with 1 tablespoon water (egg wash)
  • Optional: sesame seeds or chopped green onions for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400Β°F (200Β°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, Sriracha, honey, and lime juice to make the firecracker sauce. Adjust heat or sweetness as desired and set aside.
  3. Lay out each bacon slice flat and wrap one slice tightly around each hot dog, overlapping slightly.
  4. On a lightly floured surface, roll out thawed puff pastry sheets slightly. Cut each sheet into 8 strips about 1 to 1Β½ inches wide.
  5. Spread a thin layer of firecracker sauce over the bacon on each hot dog. Wrap one puff pastry strip around each hot dog, sealing edges by pinching gently.
  6. Place wrapped hot dogs on the prepared baking sheet. Brush each with the beaten egg wash for a golden crust.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes until puff pastry is puffed and golden and bacon is crispy. Watch closely during the last 5 minutes to prevent burning.
  8. Let rest a few minutes on a wire rack to maintain crispiness. Garnish with sesame seeds or chopped green onions if desired before serving.

Notes

If bacon slices are very thick, partially cook for 3-4 minutes before wrapping to ensure crispiness without overbaking puff pastry. Use a sharp knife or pizza cutter for neat puff pastry strips. Puff pastry should be properly thawed but still cold to avoid stickiness. Brush two thin coats of egg wash for best golden shine. A toothpick can help hold bacon in place but remove before serving. Store leftovers in airtight container refrigerated up to 3 days; reheat in oven to maintain crispiness.
