A simple, comforting fall snack board featuring crisp apples, sharp cheddar, salty pretzels, and sweet caramel drizzle. Perfect for quick weeknight treats or casual gatherings.

Ingredients

  • Apples (Honeycrisp, Fuji, or Granny Smith), sliced into wedges or coins
  • Sharp Cheddar Cheese, sliced or cubed
  • Ham or Turkey slices, rolled up
  • Whole grain or water crackers
  • Pretzel rods or twists
  • Caramel sauce (jarred or homemade)
  • Walnuts or Pecans, toasted
  • Grapes (red or green, seedless)
  • Mini semi-sweet chocolate chips (optional)
  • Dried cranberries (optional)
  • Lemon juice (for preventing apple browning)

Instructions

  1. Wash and dry apples thoroughly. Cut into wedges or coins, removing the core. If not serving immediately, toss slices in lemon juice to prevent browning.
  2. Slice or cube the cheddar cheese. Let it come to room temperature for 15 minutes before serving for better flavor.
  3. Arrange the cheese on the board first. Roll up ham or turkey slices and place them near the cheese. Add crackers in a pile or fanned out.
  4. Scatter pretzels, toasted nuts, and dried fruit around the board to fill empty spaces and add crunch.
  5. Warm the caramel sauce in the microwave or on the stove until pourable. Stir until smooth; add a teaspoon of water or milk if too thick.
  6. Drizzle the warm caramel over the apples and sweet items in a zigzag pattern. Add grapes and chocolate chips last.
  7. Adjust items for visual appeal and serve at room temperature.

Notes

Apples oxidize quickly; keep slices in water with lemon juice if prepping ahead. Caramel hardens as it cools, so drizzle quickly. Serve at room temperature for best flavor. Store leftovers separately: apples in airtight container, cheese in wax paper, caramel in a sealed jar.
